Crikey
Mission one will be coming to a close soon unless something arises and pesters me. Which will most likely happen. It will be released very soon when I feel that it is done, but I assure that is probably this weekend next week. (Trying to get the terrain to be less... repetitive and ugly. Lol)

Re: Crikey
Hooray for mission one.
Ugh... I hate doing terrain. I just can't seem to make it look nice enough.

Re: Crikey
Alright, I've managed to work most of the bugs out, seeing as how there isn't really much to work out in the first mission. Still trying to figure out whether I should do floating text or make everything stop and do a five second cinimatic. Also, don't get your hopes super high for this one. Expect it to be a dissapointment, as it's my first project I've ACTUALLY worked on without ditching it for something else.

Re: Crikey
Hmm, cinematic, or floating text...
Cinematics tend to be harder to trigger than floating text, but it is nicer looking than floating text, depending on how you format everything. I mean things like movement of units, effects, cameras, and other stuff like that.
In some cases, floating text is missed more easily than cinematics, while cinematics do not exactly run best for people with slow computers, but it still can be used to help laggers catch up.

Re: Crikey
Floating text. Going into cinematic mode (which means pausing all units, etc. etc.) isn't worth it if its for 5 seconds. Just slap some floating text. Or, use messages from units (there's a GUI command for that).
Re: Crikey
I'm really bad at this, how would I get the floating text to follow the unit? Or is that possible? I can't say I've ever really seen it used.

Re: Crikey
Hmm, I think I remember my friend saying that the very old rp games he played had a command where you typed your heroe's name, and it would appear over your hero. So yeah, its possible
Although... He also said it caused some sort of bug, so it was removed. But I doubt something like that would happen to yours.

Re: Crikey
It would require text, floating text, and timers. And stuff.
Erm, it's hard to do, honestly. Not particularly worth it =/

Re: Crikey
Yeah, there was a huge bug with that. It fatalled games I think. I'm just gonna let it float where he walked for five seconds and call it good.

Re: Crikey
Im sorry. But i dont see Myre askin me to help him in the project.
I would do something, if i had a chance. As far as i know, myres just workin on the map. I happen to have no experience with mapmaking, and as long as i have no idea of the terrain layout, i cant think of anything, like the sidequest, storyline, etc.
And thaty would be my southern talk

Re: Crikey
Wacko, eh? "Wacko" was a direct quote from Administrator Firemonkey. Which he has authority over his direct quote word.Firemonkey wrote:Your on the team, give some wacko ideas for this odd campaign.
Now i have teh approval of an Admin to make some "wacko" ideas. Any objections about Administrator Firemonkey's direct quote?

I've got no objections against Adminstrator Firemonkey, but just don't make your wacko ideas seriously stupid.

Re: Crikey
I thought you'd just throw ideas and suggestions at me seeing as how you're on the team. Rofl. By the way, I want to know if I mentioned that I'd be releasing the campaign not map-by-map, but in little packs of five maps at a time. Just making sure you all know, cuz I probably got all zoned out in the middle of typing and wandered off.

Re: Crikey
You can't stab Myre, he lives in an alternate universe and is connected to your internets through a coat hanger receiver he made! Anyways, that's the plan. Also, how'd I trick you fire? You lost me with that one.

Re: Crikey
Shush my yeast is rising.
I was thought to believe that it would be a series of maps meaning: 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 not 5-5-5-5.
And anyways don't underestimate me.

Re: Crikey
It is a series of maps. I'm just releasing it in a strange and likely undesirable way. It's like Goatse. No one likes it, but it's gonna happen anyways.

Re: Crikey
Well, Myre DID say that each mission would be short. I guess 5-5-5-5-5 would work.
