ORPG in the works, need staff
Hey guys. John (Goldendercon) and I are making an ORPG (online RPG). Unfortunately, John has all but dropped off the face of the planet, leaving me as the only one to mod the game.
Now, our game runs off an RPG engine called "Elysium Diamond", so the workload is quite small in terms of actually getting things to work. Really, all that needs to be done is making NPCs/Items/Spells/etc. and maps. I will gladly teach you how to mod the game; everything except the map editing is entirely self explanatory, but any questions are welcome to be asked. No coding knowledge, nor prior knowledge of game making is required, but the more, the better. I can handle all the coding myself, as I have been.
However, we ARE looking for a sprite artist. If you're interested, let me know and I'll fill you in on the sprite requirements (size, animations, etc.)
Positions:
-Creator Admin
The ultimate admin. You have (almost) equal power with me. John and I are the only ones with this title, and to receive it, you have to show that you are trustworthy and skilled. The only difference between a creator admin and me/John, is that we have the source to the game. Creators do not.
-Developer Admin (basically, one step below me, the "God" (Creator) Admin.)
Developer Admins do it all; administrate the game and its players, as well as modify it. This job is all-encompassing. You modify the maps, the NPCs, the spells, etc. Everything. It's a lot of fun, but hard work. You need to be very trustworthy for this position, as it can be abused with tragic results.
-Mapping Admin (Step below developer admin)
Mapping Admins just do the mapping, but they do have some administrative powers (such as banning and god-warping). This is the hardest job of them all, because mapping can be quite a hassle. However, it can be a fun job if you're into the art aspect of it.
Every mapping admin will be given their own map to mess with and learn the ropes (usually maps 100-90, since they won't be used for a very very long time). If you want to be a mapping admin, you'll have to go through a couple learning sessions/tutorials with me.
-Monitor Admin (Just above user)
Monitor admins do what their name implies; monitor. You can play the game normally, but you must be on the lookout for people who want to cause problems
-Testers (Users who report)
A tester's job is to scour the game looking for bugs of all sizes; from tiny typos to massive problems (like being able to walk on water/walls/etc.). You can still play the game, you just have to be eagle-eyed for us.
-Artists
The artist must be able to work in pixel-style art, as this is how the game works. No fancy stuff needed, but it should look good and fit in with the rest of the game.
There are sub-positions for this. Sprite artists create the sprites for NPCs/Users, items, spells, etc. Tile artists create the landscape tiles. I will give examples of each so you know how to make them. All created art must be approved by me or John before we add it.
-Marketing
This job is for advertising the game, so it's not just us playing it. You don't have to devote your entire life to this, but try and spread the word as best you can. This won't be needed until we're out of beta, but signing up now will ensure you a spot.
You ARE allowed to have multiple positions (except multiple admin positions), so if you want to map and be an artist, that's fine.
Details about the game itself will come as it is developed, or at the request of more than 5 people.

Re: ORPG in the works, need staff
I could do monitor admin. I used to monitor Irk89's Blockland server, till it went down. God there were some dumbasses... Anyways, I have quite a bit of experience in that department, since I did that for about six months. I definitely wasn't the most popular admin though, since if people were asshats I was kind of an asshat back.

I could be Monitor Admin too. I'm getting a bit bored and I wouldn't mind doing some monitor work.

Re: ORPG in the works, need staff
Good to see some enthusiasm, although I was hoping for more mappers/developers. Oh wells.
Anyways, Monitor admins won't be needed for a while, (at least until we get approx. 25 people on the server at once) and the more spread out they can be on (in terms of time), the better.
Fire: No, you're not. Whether you will be one or not is up for debate, and no, you don't get the engine. Only John and I get it.
Myre: Your resume is promising, so I'll put you up.
Mooo: For now, I'm going to put you in marketing and monitoring, since you probably know people to advertise to.
Killer: It's not a warcraft III map, if you couldn't tell. Anyways, I don't care where it's popular, only that it is. However, I'd rather you didn't start advertising it until John or I give approval, since it still needs a LOT of work in order to be playable. However, testers are always needed.
Sniper: Maybe. Monitors can't ban, I don't think, but I know they can kick.
Fluffy: I can put you in all three, although Monitor and tester would probably go together.
I will be working on this a lot, so I'll keep you updated with what's to be expected in the future.

Hmm Btw how much would one have to troll... XD Oh btw could i possibly sign up for marketing.. I can advertise to the rpg freaks and such. I dont really care how many things i get banned from
Re: ORPG in the works, need staff
Aside from these positions, I'll also need players. I expect all of you to take up that position
Re: ORPG in the works, need staff
Umm durr if we were testing and moderating We would have to play it
Re: ORPG in the works, need staff
Not necessarily, moderators could technically just patrol the game...
Re: ORPG in the works, need staff

Re: ORPG in the works, need staff
Hey... physically you can't FALL off of the face of the planet, It's because of all the schoolwork, and yes only we get uber characters. And btw... all those for spriting will have to go under me... and unless I give you permission, NO ONE and I mean NO ONE is allowed to edit tilesets, unless you make a superb one that will dazzle me.
@Darkwulf: Perhaps we can add more privileges for each position
Creator Admin:
1.) Custom Sprite
2.) A weapon named after them(Except for us, who will have an entire set)
3.) Their own castle
4.) 5000 gold allowance every 2 months
5.) Access to a secret shop within the admin palace
Developers:
1.) Custom Sprite
2.) Room in the admin palace
3.) 2500 gold every 2 months
4.) Access to a secret shop in the palace
Mappers
Same as above but w/o the custom sprite
Monitors
Same as Developers but only get a humble cabin w/o the custom sprite
Artists
Same as Developers but get a cottage, w/o custom sprite, no gold but get their names in the museum
And if anyone is wondering I'm releasing an offline RPG named "The Chronicles of Power" which follows the events in the novel I've written

Re: ORPG in the works, need staff
I disagree on most of that stuff.
A weapon named after: You guys are going to be doing a shit load of work but to be honest i would prefer that i'd earn something like. Like to become a legend or something.
A Castle: Same as weapon, try to earn it not be born into it. Its like a monarchy where you guys could just create and have a castle while overs could never achieve something like that. Besides why would you even need one?
Money: That's just plain stupid. Unless you were to use that to help others.
Secret shop: It just doesn't seem right to have something so pointless. You're already better then everyone, why need more?
Everyone should be equal to some standards. Perhaps not everone should have a house but a small room to share with others in a guild.

Re: ORPG in the works, need staff
Yeah i want a portable home. A BOx or a super uber 1337 bowl for a hat
Re: ORPG in the works, need staff
I'm sort of agreeing with Fire here. We shouldn't lavish these positions, or it would be completely unfair.
Creator admins, however, do get this sort of stuff, but to a limited degree. Only John and I, and MAYBE 1-2 others get to be lavished, but John and I deserve it, for all the work we've done, and will have to do.
From Developers down, your rewards should be based on your skill and your output. If you go to school in the best classes, but suck in all of them, you won't automatically get good grades, amirite? Here's my proposed system:
Creator Admins: The "God" Admins (I technically have the allmighty highest, since I'm the only one with the source code)
1: A custom sprite (A special one only admins can use)
2: Full, BALANCED (that means you, John! lol) equipment set
3: Your own castle, but YOU have to make it entirely by hand.
4: A room in the admin palace, but only if you aren't making your own castle
5: Gold is infinite within reason, but honestly, you should earn it yourself.
Developer Admins: "God's Angels". The uber admins who are like lesser Creators.
1: Same as Creators
2: Your own weapon/armor/helm/etc. (pick one)
3: A room in the admin palace
4: Bonus gold
Mappers: The guys in charge of making the maps.
1: Special Sprite, but not super-custom like above
2: No special weapons
3: A room in the admin palace
4: Bonus gold, based on skill
Monitors: The patrol system.
1: Same as Mappers
2: Same as Mappers
3: A room in the admin palace
4: Some Bonus gold, based on skill
Special admin rewards (like special weapons, sprites, etc.) will be available, but you have to earn them. They aren't inherent.
Hope this makes sense.
