Thinking of stuffing various references to movies and internet memes. I've got a list of things that would be terribly out of place, such as CATS from Zero Wing (All your base are belong to us) and Robo Cop. Throw some things that'd be funny and how they might be used at me, and I'll probably incorporate them into the campaign (and multiplayer map).

You need a grenade called the "Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch". Also, make a road sign that you can read that says "10 miles to castle AUUUGGHHHhhhhhhhh" (Those are both Monty Python references)

You also need an enemy that, if he kills you, goes WRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

And of course, the infamous LAZER.

Sometimes, when I think of your project, I think of the "Destroy all humans" Series.

-You can have mental powers. Because to me, it seems like the Tapeworm possesses psychic powers.

-Basic weapons, obviously, like things you would find around a house. Maybe even guns too.

-Humor, huh? Have some easter eggs. I don't mean it literally. Easter eggs are like funny and/or unusual secrets in the game that are meant to be found. I could explain this futher if you don't get it.

-Don't make your tapeworm try to do gigantic take-over-the-world plots at the beginning of the game. Make him start smaller than that, then have his plans grow as the player progresses throughout the game.

-I don't know how you would be able to have other players in campaign, because I think theres only one tapeworm. Maybe you could explain that for me?

Yeah, references like dark suggested would be good too.

Another easter egg: Have, somewhere, in your campaign, a spot where you "pick up" an object, and it turns out to be a porno movie. Say something like: "You pick up the DVD box and turn it over. It says "Asian Girls XTREME" on it. You put it back because the tapeworm doesn't like porn."

Awesome ideas. I know what Easter Eggs are, but I'm going to put some Easter Eggs (Literally) just for the hell of it. I can't put the Anal Probe in, it's kind of... weird.

Hmmm. Maybe some sidequests? Like, someone needs the tapeworm's help on like, finding an item, and he rewards you with like.... Stat boost or a secret of some kind.
Or like a person to get players curious like, a giant strong monster with like 99999 attack behind a fence, it would get ppl curious about what it would be for. U know what i mean?
Or you could make a crappy restaurant that sells uncooked meat. So if there "happens" to be a tapeworm egg in the meat, the player gets powered faster than others.
Or an achievable secret ending like if you do something special like..... get the tapeworm out of your body, in some kind of secret way, but you would have to win without the tapeworms help.

Small secrets are always nice. But take the following advice:

-Don't use dry humor. It should be subtle humor, like in the Wc3 campaign, you meet a boy named "Little Timmy". Later, you find a ghoul named "Little Timmy". It's not... humor, but you get the idea. Don't use stupid, dry humor, and don't make it in-your-face obvious, because then it gets stupid. Of course you CAN have some in-your-face humor, but make sure it's a good joke and it doesn't happen too often.

-Don't go wild with easter eggs. Add a couple here and there to spice things up, don't cram them in at every given nook and cranny. Easter eggs can be as tiny as the name of an item or character.

-Stay focused. Make sure each campaign has a goal. Say mission one is a preface; learn your way around Tales of a Tapeworm. Mission 2 could be a little more advanced, and start forwarding the storyline. Don't go crazy, and make sure the sidequests are small and don't take ages to complete, or else the missions start taking too long and get off track.

-Don't be afraid to piss your players off a little. Make a mission a little tough, make them think a bit. Add a couple puzzles, maybe make a tough-ass boss.

-Give your characters... character! If you notice in the Wc3 campaign, everyone has a bit of a style. For example, Maeiv is very strict, very to-the-point. She doesn't shit around. Arthas wants to defend his homeland, he's very brave, but a little cocky and naive. Give your characters a feel, and obviously give them dialog. And don't be afraid to get a little dirty. The text can have some swearing (don't go overboard), maybe some sexual innuendo. Whatever suits your characters.

-Allow the host to consult his tapeworm once it gets strong enough (think of Navi or Midna from Legend of Zelda), except the tapeworm is a bit more corrupt and might lead you into trouble. But the trouble should be rewarding. For example, say the goal is to get out of a lockdown'd mall. You ask the tapeworm for advice. He says to go left (when you should go right), and going left get you into fights with police, but there's something valuable down there. You get the point.

-Last, make the tapeworm evolve. Start him out simple. He wants to takeover the body. Then advance him to killing a couple people, then maybe the mayor or police chief. Make the tapeworm more powerful and influential over the host's body. And of course, let your host do some fighting back every once in a while.


That's about all I can think of right now. Hope that helps!

Well, i looked around tapeworm information, and im sure myre doesnt want to look uneducated. I poked around some tapeworm info. So, what kind of tapeworm should be infecting that guy? Like, a tapeworm gets into a humans body by food, so if it is a from a cow,pork,fish tapeworm. Or maybe you want to spice it up a bit, and say that it was a normal day and you found some meat, and was stupid enough to eat it. And it happens to be meat from a different planet of super-intelligence or something. So what im saying is what would the origin of the tapeworm be from?
Because i wont be able to respond without details.
Eh, im pretty sure my first suggestion wasnt too bright, the real-life info and that crap.
Also in addition to Dark's fourth point, wouldnt it be boring with the same old ending every single time? So, why not make more than one kind of ending, like if you do something specific at a specific point.
So, in one ending, everything turns out right and you rule the world.
And in another ending, you manage to get rid of the tapeworm and live a normal life.
Or is this even possible to do on WC editor?

It's very possible to do, Fluffy. Might be a bit complicated, but you and Myre could probably think up some quests together that would twist the storyline a bit so that you start to purge/resist the tapeworm, rather than just give in and do as he commands.

Lol, good thing we never had a mutated parasite who wanted to take over the world in real life.

Off topic, sorry, well anyways. You should follow darkwulfv's advice. You shouldn't have too many easter eggs and focus on the real thing.

If I may add, sometimes it's good to reward the player with something after he/she has completed something hard. Maybe like a power, weapon, or something else.

Well, i would think of some quests to make if i knew the terrain of map, u know. There could be a quest where this guy lost something and you need to fight something to get it back, it could be in a cave, mountain, or anywhere.
And also, is there gunna be a player limit? I mean, 10 ppl controlled by tapeworms trying to rule the world is a lil too much in my opinion. I think maybe 8 or 6 players max would be a reasonable amount, or you can just make 10 ppl the max but recommmend less people playing as the tapeworm
And Myre, try working on the map, because im no good at maps, once you get map layout, ill just keep comin up with ideas and storyline while u work on map.
Hmmm, what else...
Maybe you can make an origin for the tapeworm too. Like, its from another planet called [Insert Name Here] and it has beings like the tapeworm with evolved and unevolved forms of it. And maybe the tapeworm inside your body communicate with the other creatures at their plant to come help them rule earth.
ALSO, we need a setting, i mean, it could be in the US, Asia, Europe, anywhere. Or if you want it even more creative, maybe you should make a made up place called [Insert Another Name Here].
AND in addition to settings, we need the time, it could be the present, but it would need to use present time weapons etc. Its could be the future which i think is a little more creative where there are more advanced technology, but it would make the world stronger than the tapeworm. And lastly, it could be in the past with past time weapons and problems.
I think the past time i the best bet because the models in WC3 are in the past time with swords and beasts and other things.
So we need the setting, quests, storyline, etc bla bla bla

I think past may perhaps be our best bet, but I'm gonna have to go through and fiddle with item names (I.E. Pipe Bombs, Leather Coats, Cat o' Nine Tails, Nailguns, stolen pagers and things.) Also, Dark, I never seem to go TOO overboard with stuff like that, but I know I'll need to put in movie references and things. It's just what I do. Also, I'm planning different personalities for different people you will meet along the way, and maybe a point where you have to build a small army and it plays kind of like a WC3 skirmish, but you have to invade and kill the leader of an area. I know I'll have to make custom AI, but I've messed with that a bit. I'm also putting in an extra player slot in every mission, so that you can cooperate in the campaign with another person. Everything will be harder though, to make sure it's not just a walk in the park. There will be a single-player version too, that goes in the custom campaign's menu.

Im getting the feeling of this game being a Diplomacy game in SC. That you just own a part and have to battle everyone else.
And since we are doing past, like, how far into the past? Near WW2 or more 1800'sish. And also isnt it supposed to be a FFA? Cuz if there are 2 ppl working together, of course they will win. Im not saying that between the other players there is like, only hostility and stuff. I think other players should be able to trade with players.
And also to darks idea of character should have character, wouldnt that effect the will power against the tapeworm and how obedient the player is to the tapeworm.
Or, maybe everyone is allied at first, before the tapeworm took over, and they started to grow more hostile to each other and try to kill each other.
What im saying is where would they all spawn? Should they spawn next to each other like a team but grow apart, or they spawn seperately, enemys at first. The spawning next to each other would help make some sence of the storyline, but it would be kind of difficult to get them apart, since other players would be playing too.

No, not yet. I'm planning it as I go along though and there will be a multiplayer map. (Maybe I'll make the campaign co-operative as well, who knows?)

Well my avatar will steal your cookies forever, so that kind of balances it out. I'm not sure about doing a co-op because I could have to mess with the map a lot and tweak everythings' health and stuff. I'll think about it.

If your going to do a Single Player, a Co-op, and a Multiplayer, then there WILL be changes to the story. Just try to make the changes as little to notice as possible, you know, stick to the real thing.

In diablo 2 you go to tristram and click a body gold pours out and you get a item called wirts leg. You put it in the horadric cube with a tele scroll after you beat the game and it opens a portal to the secret cow level. (only works in act 1 rouge encampent)
